BSNL MT882 (Type 1) ADSL Modem

Packing for MT882 Type 1 modem from BSNL. Huawei manufactures these modems for BSNL.









The MT882 ADSL Modem


Setting up the modem. (Click on picture to see a larger view)

  1. Connect the ADSL Modem (MT 882) to your PC with the Ethernet Cable (RJ45) or USB Cable. Remove the ADSL line cord (RJ11) coming from Splitter to Modem. LINK indicator (Steady Green) will TURN OFF.

  2. Open Internet Explorer and type http://192.168.1.1/ Press 'Enter' on key board.

  3. On the page opened type User as “admin” and Password as “admin”. click on “OK"

  4. If the password doesn't work you can reset it by pressing the reset switch in your modem
    by a ball pen for 10 Secs while the modem is ON.
  5. A word of caution******* This will reset all settings in your modem*********

  6. Expand the “Advanced” option by clicking on (+) sign. Click on "ADSL Settings".

  7. Check that ADSL Modulation” is set to G.Dmt", if not set it to “G.Dmt & click on "Apply", Reboot the Modem & wait till “LAN” indicator reappears.

  8. Expand the Home” option by clicking on (+) sign. Click on “WAN Setting". Click on wan Type = PPP”.

  9. check connection Type = PPPoE, VPI / VCI = 1/35, Encap. = LLC, Default Route = Enabled.

  10. check Use DNS = Enabled, Max Idle Time = Always On.

  11. Type your Internet User Name and Password. Click on "Apply".

  12. Click on DNS under the Home option and maintain Primary(218.248.255.145) and secondary(61.1.96.71) DNS address

  13. Reboot the Modem & wait till “LAN” indicator reappears.

  14. Close the Internet Explorer. Your Modem is now ready for browsing. Connect the ADSL line to Modem now & wait till LINK indicator turns steady and Orange in colour.

  15. For using the connection in more than one Computer connect the Modem to a Router

  16. Follow the picture below for additional settings


In some places (trivandrum) there is some variation with the default settings. use VPI / VCI = 0/32
